Frisian Solar Challenge: 'World Cup for Solar Powered Boats'

The official registration for the World Cup for Solar Powered Boats has started. Participants can register for the race on this website. The Frisian Solar Challenge 2010 will take place from the 4^th till the 10^th of July. All the competitors have to race along the famous eleven cities of Friesland.

The Solar powered boats will compete in three different classes. The Challengeclass is split up in two classes; the A-class and the B-class. The A-Class is manned by a single skipper, while the B-Class vessels are manned by two persons. In the Top-class are no designrules. One of the new regulations is that the solar panels in the Topclass must have a maximum power of 1750 Wp. The organisation hopes that this new element stimulates the development of innovation for solar powered boats en leads to more competition in the race.
